What our records are — and aren't

DakotaBuilt checklists and reports record visible conditions observed on the date shown and the work performed. They are not official inspections, certifications, engineering assessments or legal opinions, and they do not determine whether a property meets any code, regulation or contract requirement.

FAQ

Compliance: common questions

Is a DakotaBuilt checklist the same as an inspection?

No. Our checklists record what we observed on a given day. Official inspections are performed by the relevant authority or a qualified inspector, and our reports say so plainly.

Can I log in and see my records?

Not yet. Available today as part of DakotaBuilt service: we complete the checklists, keep the logs and send you the reports. A customer portal — where you can view your own properties, open issues, reports and upcoming maintenance — is in development and not yet available.

Do I have to buy services to get documentation?

Documentation comes with our services today — every job and recurring visit produces a record. If you only want checklists and reports for a property, ask; we'll quote it like any other job.

What happens when a checklist finds a problem?

It becomes an issue with a priority and a recommended next step. If it's work we do, we'll quote it. If it needs a licensed trade, we'll say so. Nothing is fixed or billed without your approval.
